Florida State is now a season-high 12 games over .500 after sweeping a doubleheader against Pacific on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles busted out the big bats to take the first game on Saturday, 18-5. In what was a pitcher’s duel until late, FSU completed the sweep with a 5-3 victory in the second game.

The Seminoles now sit at 30-18 and will go for the 4-game sweep on Sunday. It will be FSU’s next-to-last non-conference game of the regular season.

The Good: The Florida State offense equaled a season-high with 18 runs in the first game on Saturday and got the best outing in months from starting pitcher Andrew Karp in the second game.

The Bad: Despite a good offensive day, the Seminoles still left 22 men on base over the two games. Considering FSU scored 18 runs in the first game, leaving 13 is understandable, but the Seminoles also left nine in the nightcap.

The Ugly: Putting the ball in play was a challenge for Pacific on Saturday as 25 of its 54 outs for the day came by way of strikeout. By comparison, FSU struck out just eight times.

Studs of the Day: The bottom of the FSU order made things happen on Saturday as Matt Henderson and J.C. Flowers were a combined 8-for-17 on the day with five runs scored and seven RBIs. Jackson Lueck was 4-for-7 on the day with four runs scored and a solo home run. Andrew Karp deserves recognition for his start in the nightcap, going seven strong innings for FSU, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out eight. For Pacific, starter Cooper Casad was solid in the second game, yielding just two runs in seven innings. At the plate, James Free was 3-for-7 for the Tigers with a home run and three RBIs on the day. Danny Mayer was 4-for-8 with a home run for Pacific.

Duds of the Day: Jimmy Boras and Carter Hayes each had 0-for-4 days for Pacific at the plate. On the mound, Ryan Shreve allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings in the Game 1 start. In relief, Miles Haddad was worse, allowing eight runs in 2 1/3 innings.
