Florida State is about a year and a half away from returning to where it handed the home team a 37-0 loss in its last trip 15 years prior.

The 2018 contest between FSU and Notre Dame will be played on Nov. 10, according to a schedule released by the school on Thursday. It will be the ninth ever meeting between the schools and the fourth in South Bend.

While the 2003 contest is the victory in the series that FSU fans seem to like best, the most memorable contest came in 1993 when No. 2 Notre Dame upset the top-ranked Seminoles, 31-24. The Fighting Irish would lose to Boston College a week later and FSU still wound up going on to win its first national championship.

Three of the previous five meetings were played on neutral fields. FSU beat Notre Dame in Orlando for a regular season game in 1994 and the Champs Sports Bowl to conclude the 2011 season. FSU also topped Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl to close the 1995 season. FSU leads the all-time series, 6-2.

FSU has won the previous two contests in the series each by four points with the most recent coming in Tallahassee in 2014. A potential game-winning touchdown in the final seconds for Notre Dame was called back on an offensive pass interference call in a 31-27 FSU victory.

Notre Dame’s next trip to Tallahassee is set to come on Labor Day or Sept. 6, 2021. No time has yet been set for the 2018 contest. It will presumably air on NBC.
