A stellar redshirt freshman season from Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois culminated in a nice piece of hardware on Tuesday.

The FSU signal-caller was named the ACC’s Rookie of the Year after passing for 3,128 yards and accounting for 22 total touchdowns and just six interceptions. Francois had five games of at least 300 yards passing.

Aside from the passing yards, Francois also was a weapon with his legs. The redshirt freshman finished the year with 189 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

Lauded for his toughness, Francois started every game for the Seminoles this season, leading them to a 9-3 record which included comeback wins against the likes of Ole Miss and N.C. State and rivalry victories over Miami and Florida. With the stellar year, Francois has the Seminoles in position to play for a New Year’s Six bowl.

Francois was also named the ACC’s Offensive Rookie of the Year on Tuesday. Clemson’s Dexter Lawrence took home Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in the conference.
