Following a 31-13 victory over rival Florida this week, Florida State moved up two spots to 12th in the College Football Playoff Rankings, which were unveiled on Tuesday night. More importantly, the Seminoles sit a spot ahead Louisville, who was ranked 13th this week after falling at home to Kentucky.

The Seminoles being ahead of the Cardinals likely means that FSU will play in the Capital One Orange Bowl if Clemson beats Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship. The Tigers are currently No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings and would likely cement a spot in the playoff with a win on Saturday.

The next highest ranked ACC team outside the top 4 would earn a bid to the Orange Bowl. That position is currently occupied by the Seminoles. Neither FSU or Louisville have any regular season games remaining, but the selection committee could reweigh Louisville’s 63-20 victory over FSU when the final rankings are unveiled Sunday.

Topping the poll was Alabama. Also in the top 4 along with the Crimson Tide and Clemson was No. 2 Ohio State and fourth-ranked Washington.
