For a fourth straight year, the winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy happens to be a member of the Florida State Seminoles. The award annually goes to the ACC’s best offensive lineman.

For the second straight year, Roderick Johnson took home the honors. The junior left tackle for FSU didn’t completely live up to the lofty expectation set for him before the season, but was still the rock of a unit that featured six different starting lineups throughout the course of the 2016 season.

Thanks largely to Johnson’s efforts, FSU finished the regular season with an offense that ranked in the top 25 nationally and in the top 35 in points per game. Johnson was one of two offensive linemen to start every game for the Seminoles this year. The other was center Alec Eberle.

Prior to Johnson, Cameron Erving won the award for FSU in 2013 and 2014. Since entering the ACC in 1992, FSU has claimed 12 Jacobs Blocking Trophies. Former FSU center Clay Shiver (1993-94), former tackle Brett Williams (2001-02) and former guard Rodney Hudson (2009-10) each won the award twice. Tackles Tra Thomas (1997) and Tarlos Thomas (2000) each were 1-time winners.
