Florida State isn’t considered the front-runner, but the Seminoles are still in the running for the services of 5-star safety Jeffrey Okudah.

Okudah, a 6-1, 190-pound talent out of Grand Prairies, Texas, announced his top 6 schools via Twitter on Monday and FSU made the cut. The Seminoles were joined by Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Okudah is the No. 5 prospect nationally for 2017 and the top player at safety.

Safety is a position where Florida State has already done some work shoring up with 4-stars Daniel Wright and Cyrus Fagan both committed for 2017. FSU however, would be more than happy to add a talent like Okudah. The Seminoles currently have the No. 8 class for 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

If Florida State were somehow able to land Okudah, it would mark the third time in seven years the Seminoles were able to snag the nation’s top safety. Karlos Williams in 2011 and Derwin James in 2015 were the previous two.
