I don’t have a lot to say about the draft generally, but Auden Tate doesn’t go ’til the seventh round? Man, talk about a steal. That guy might not have rang up huge numbers, but he made a lot of NFL-grade catches. The Bengals did themselves a solid, that’s for sure.

I wasn’t surprised McFadden went undrafted. He will now have to show some effort to make the 49ers after taking 2017 off. He’s finding out that hype isn’t enough.

I was mildly surprised at Rick Leonard getting drafted. He showed a lot of athleticism as a DE, and flashed at times at RT. I think he was hurt the most by the schizo play calling at times. If he gets through his rookie year, he has the chance to be really good.

Yeah, McFadden didn’t do himself any favors this past season. As for Rick Leonard, I always thought he was a solid player, but agreed that the problems with the offensive scheme made it tough to peg just what he has to offer. Even the oft-maligned Alec Eberle is probably a lot better than his on-field performance this past season might suggest.

Don’t know whether to be surprised at the fact that nobody picked up Matthew Thomas until after the draft. Granted he isn’t entirely right between the ears sometimes, but he does have size and speed, and when he was dialed in, he was as good as any linebacker in the college game.

Yup. Thomas was too risky because of attitude. Real waste of talent.
