Basketball fans are waiting for NBA All-Star Game 2025, making it one of the most awaited sporting events. Viewers and the general public are kept on their feet by the vibrant challenge that unites the league’s top players. To maintain the All-Star Game’s attraction to viewers, the NBA makes a number of changes each year. The league concluded that one game was insufficient this year and adopted a tournament system.
Four teams led by NBA greats, Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and former WNBA player Candace Parker will compete in this unique format. The NBA All-Star Game has typically matched the top players from the Eastern Conference against those from the Western Conference, with player participation determined by a fan vote throughout the season. The East defeated the West in a historic match in Indianapolis a year ago, but the league has decided to significantly alter the system this year.
One game has been converted into a 2025 mini-tournament, with 3 teams chosen by general managers and commentators from TNT’s famous Inside the NBA show: Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Keny Smith. A fourth team, led by WNBA veteran Candace Parker, emerged winners at Friday’s Rising Stars tournament.
The head coaches of the teams now leading their respective NBA conferences, Kenny Atkinson of the CC and Mark Daigneault of the OCT, will each take a squad on the night, along with two assistants. The 24 All-Star players for last month’s draft were picked through a combination of fan vote (to decide starters), existing NBA players, and media. The first team to score or surpass 40 points in each game progresses to the final match, which follows the same criteria. The total prize money for the two semi-finals is $1.8 million.

The Rising Stars game similarly uses a tournament style with four teams. A fourth team made up of G League players was selected by the renowned Golden State Warriors Run TMC trio of Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin, and Mitch Richmond.
