Lead Story

A pair of Florida State defensive players were recognized this week by the ACC for their efforts in Saturday’s 31-28 win over Miami.

Defensive end Jermaine Johnson was named the conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Week. Freshman cornerback Omarion Cooper was named ACC Co-Rookie of the Week and ACC Defensive Back of the Week.

Johnson had a monster afternoon in the victory, tallying seven tackles, five for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble. Cooper finished with two tackles, an interception and four pass breakups.

The Seminoles will hope for a similar effort this week as they wrap up ACC play at Boston College.

News and Notes

The Oct. 27 contest between FSU and Florida will begin at 12 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

FSU hoops fell out of the AP Poll on Monday.

FSU women’s hoops fell one spot to No. 17 in the AP Poll on Monday.

Boston College is listed as a 2-point favorite over FSU football on Saturday.
