The Daily Nole — Nov. 9, 2021: FSU Soccer Earns No. 1 Overall Seed

Lead Story

One day after winning its eighth ACC championship, Florida State soccer was awarded with the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament.

FSU won’t have to leave Tallahassee until the College Cup and will open the NCAA Tournament against South Alabama on Friday night. The winner of the contest between the Seminoles and Jaguars will face the winner of SMU and Texas.

Since 2014, FSU has won a pair of national championships. The Seminoles played for the title last season, but came up short on penalty kicks against Santa Clara.

FSU will enter the NCAA Tournament with a record of 16-1-2.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s hoops will begin its 2021-22 season on Tuesday night against North Florida. The contest begins at 7 p.m. ET. FSU volleyball will also host North Florida at 5 p.m. ET. Both contests stream on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU football defensive end Keir Thomas was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

FSU football’s Nov. 20 contest at Boston College will begin at noon ET and air on ACC Network Extra.
