The Daily Nole — Nov. 5, 2021: Nine FSU Soccer Players Earn ACC Honors

Lead Story

Nine different Florida State soccer players were recognized by the ACC on Thursday.

Defender Emily Madril was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year for 2021. Jaelin Howell was named the Midfielder of the Year by the conference. Both were also named first-team All-ACC selections, along with midfielder Yujie Zhao.

Representing the Seminoles on the All-ACC second team was forward Beata Olsson, defensive Gabby Carle and midfielder Clara Robbins. Forward Jody Brown was a third-team selection. Midfielder Maria Alagoa and goalkeeper Mia Justus were each named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.

After a 14-1-2 finish to the regular season, FSU will be the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament. The Seminoles kick the tournament off on Friday night against sixth-seeded Wake Forest.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer’s ACC Tournament semifinal match with Wake Forest on Friday begins at 8 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network. FSU volleyball will be at Clemson on Friday night. That match begins at 7 p.m. ET and streams on ACC Network Extra.

FSU baseball’s Garnet and Gold scrimmage set for Friday has been canceled.

FSU hoops will take on Florida College in an exhibition on Friday night.

Florida State swimming and diving’s meet against Florida set for Friday has been canceled.
