Happy hump day, Florida State fans.

As your week heads downhill, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Florida State running back Treshaun Ward hasn’t spent much time in the spotlight during his time in Tallahassee, but that has started to change this season.

Earlier this week, Ward was named a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy. The award annually goes to an outstanding player who began his career as a walk-on. The trophy is named in honor of former Arkansas offensive lineman Brandon Burlsworth, who went from walk-on to All-American. Burlsworth was tragically killed in a car crash just 11 days after being selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft.

This season, Ward has 440 yards rushing and four total touchdowns for the Seminoles. His stellar 7.1 yards per carry average ranks third in the ACC.

The winner of the Burlsworth Trophy will be announced on Dec. 6 in Bentonville, Ark. No FSU player has ever won the award.
