The Daily Nole — Nov. 1, 2021: FSU Volleyball Outlasts Syracuse, 3-2

Lead Story

Syracuse gave Florida State volleyball all it wanted on Sunday afternoon, but in the end, the Seminoles survived, 3-2.

The match featured five very competitive sets. After FSU took the first two, the Orange responded with the next two to even the match.

FSU’s most decisive set victory came in the fifth as it closed on a 10-2 run to leave with a 15-11 victory. Audrey Koenig finished with 18 kills to lead five Seminoles in double digits in that category. Morgan Chacon added 20 digs to go with 10 kills. Marina Markova paced Syracuse with a match-high 33 kills.

With the win, FSU has now won four straight. The Seminoles improved to 16-5 overall and 9-3 in ACC play. FSU will visit Clemson on Friday.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU volleyball’s victory, FSU women’s golf wrapped up the Landfall Tradition on Sunday in 10th place. FSU men’s golf began the Daniel Island Invitational and is in second place.

News and Notes

Wake Forest upset Duke soccer on Sunday, meaning FSU soccer will take on the Demon Deacons in the ACC Tournament on Friday night.

FSU’s home football contest with NC State on Saturday will begin at 4 p.m. ET and air on ACC Network.

FSU opens as a 3-point underdog against NC State.

Florida State soccer’s Gabby Carle was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
