The Daily Nole — Oct. 30, 2021: FSU’s Wildschutt Claims ACC Cross Country Title

Lead Story

Both the Florida State men and women finished in the top five at the ACC Cross Country Championships on Friday, but on the men’s side, the Seminoles had the individual champion.

Adriaan Wildschutt claimed the individual title, besting Notre Dame’s Dylan Jacobs by 16 seconds. FSU’s Ahmed Muhumed finished third. As a team however, FSU finished fifth. The Fighting Irish claimed the men’s title, followed by Syracuse, Wake Forest and North Carolina.

Wildschutt becomes just the second FSU men’s cross country athlete to win an ACC title. Andrew Lemoncello previously won titles in 2004 and 2005.

The FSU women finished third behind NC State and North Carolina. Lauren Ryan and Maudie Skyring paced the Seminoles, finishing 11th and 13th, respectively. The Seminoles will take part in the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 12.

Between the Lines

In addition to the ACC Championships, FSU volleyball beat Boston College on Friday, 3-0. FSU women’s golf began the Landfall Tradition.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s golf will continue the Landfall Tradition on Saturday. FSU football will be at Clemson. That contest begins at 3:30 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN. The FSU swimming and diving teams will take part in multiple events. The FSU men take on Florida Southern while the women host West Florida and North Florida.

News and Notes

Both the FSU men’s and women’s teams participated in individual events on Friday.

FSU baseball will take on Troy in an exhibition on Saturday.

4-star guard Chandler Jackson committed to FSU hoops on Friday.
