The Daily Nole — Oct. 18, 2021: FSU Volleyball Falls to No. 4 Pitt, 3-1

Lead Story

Florida State volleyball hung tough for two sets, but No. 4 Pittsburgh was ultimately too much on Sunday in Tallahassee. The Panthers left with a 3-1 victory.

After dropping the first set, FSU won the second to even the match. Pittsburgh won the final two sets, 25-13 and 25-14, respectively, to clinch the match.

Pitt’s Kayla Lund tallied a match-high 17 kills and 15 digs. Emma Clothier and Morgan Chacon finished with 13 and 12 kills, respectively, for FSU. Lauryn Burrows led FSU with 15 digs in the loss.

With the defeat, FSU falls to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in ACC play. The next two matches for FSU come on the road, beginning Friday at Virginia Tech.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s volleyball match with Pittsburgh, FSU women’s golf began the Jim West Challenge. Through one day, FSU is in third place.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s golf will continue the Jim West Challenge on Monday. FSU men’s golf begins the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in Arkansas.

News and Notes

FSU women’s hoops will host an exhibition against West Florida on Nov. 3.

FSU football is currently listed as a 35-point favorite over Massachusetts on Saturday.

3-star tackle Aliou Bah decommitted from FSU on Saturday.

The ACC will announce game times and networks for football games on Oct. 30 on Monday.
