The Daily Nole — Oct. 15, 2021: FSU Baseball Unveils 2022 Schedule

It’s Friday, Florida State fans.

As you start thinking about the weekend, check out our daily rundown.

The start of baseball season may be about four months away, but Florida State now knows what its 2022 slate will look like.

After losing in the Oxford Regional last season, Mike Martin Jr. will begin his third season as head coach on Feb. 18 as the Seminoles host James Madison for a 3-game set. Overall, FSU will play 56 games, including 36 at home and 30 against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season.

Non-conference foes include Samford, California, Stetson, Mercer, Jacksonville, Bethune-Cookman, Georgia Southern and UCF. The Seminoles will host TCU for an intriguing non-conference series in April. Matchups against rival Florida take place on March 15 in Gainesville, March 29 in Jacksonville and April 12 in Tallahassee.

FSU opens ACC play at Wake Forest on March 11. It will host rival Miami in the final home series of the regular season from May 13-15. FSU wraps up the regular season with three games at North Carolina.

On the Agenda

FSU cross country will host the FSU Invite on Friday morning. FSU swimming and diving will be at Auburn. Florida State soccer will visit Virginia Tech in a match that begins at 5 p.m. ET and airs on Raycom Sports Networks. FSU volleyball hosts Virginia. That match begins at 6:30 p.m. ET and streams on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU women’s tennis players participated in the ITA Southeastern Regional Championships on Thursday.

Florida State softball volunteer coach, Kaleigh Rafter, has been named the head coach of the Canadian Softball National Team. Rafter recently won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
