Lead Story

Florida State soccer is halfway through ACC play. It remains perfect.

The top-ranked Seminoles improved to 12-0 and 5-0 in conference on Thursday with a 5-0 win over Syracuse. Amelia Horton scored the lone goal, her first, of the first half, but FSU responded with a flurry in the second. Clara Robbins, Kirsten Pavlisko and Maria Alagoa all scored in the second half. FSU also benefitted from an own goal from the Orange.

Jody Brown recorded two assists in the victory while Gianna Mitchell and Emily Madril each added one. FSU finished the match with 21 shots to just one for Syracuse.

FSU will remain home on Sunday to face Miami before beginning a 3-game road stretch. The Seminoles have now won 20 straight regular-season matches.

Between the Lines

FSU’s soccer victory was the lone scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving kicks off its season on Friday with the FIU TYR Classic in Miami.

News and Notes

FSU softball’s Caylan Arnold, Cassidy Davis, Devyn Flaherty, Kiersten Landers, Elizabeth Mason, Dani Morgan, Kaley Mudge, D’Aun Riggs and Anna Shelnutt were all part of a class of over 8,800 student-athletes to be named named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes.
