Lead Story

Two meets, two victories for Florida State cross country’s Adriaan Wildschutt.

After winning the Covered Bridge Open two weeks prior, Wildschutt won the FSU XC Open in Tallahassee on Friday, finishing 11.5 seconds ahead of Stanford’s Charles Hicks. Wildschutt was recently named Division I Men’s Athlete of the Week by USTFCCA.

As a team, the FSU men settled for a third-place finish behind Stanford and Furman. Ahmen Muhumed finished fourth for the Seminoles, but no one else finished higher than 16th.

On the women’s side, FSU finished second behind only BYU. The Cougars had seven of the top 15 finishers.

Lauren Ryan led the Seminoles with a fifth-place finish. Agnes McTighe and Amanda Beach finished eight and ninth, respectively for FSU.

FSU will have next week off before returning to action for the Notre Dame Invite on Oct. 1.

Between the Lines

In addition to the FSU XC Open, FSU men’s golf began its season on Friday with the Fighting Illini Invitational. Through one round, the Seminoles are in ninth place.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s golf will continue the Fighting Illini Invitational on Saturday. Both FSU football and FSU soccer will open ACC play. On the gridiron, Florida State visits Wake Forest in a contest that begins at 3:30 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN. FSU soccer hosts Boston College at 6 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

Against Wake Forest, FSU football will look to avoid starting 0-3 for the first time since 1976.
