The Daily Nole — Sept. 16, 2021: FSU Volleyball Powers Past No. 14 Florida, 3-1

Lead Story

On a night where Florida State volleyball honored the memory of legend Brianna Barry, the Seminoles didn’t disappoint. FSU scored its biggest win of the young season on Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over rival Florida.

The No. 14 Gators won the first set, but FSU stormed back to take the final three in dominating fashion. Florida failed to score more than 20 points in any of the final three sets. Morgan Chacon led the Seminoles with 14 kills and 14 digs in the victory.

Khori Louis and Audrey Koenig also had big nights for FSU, finishing with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Sofia Victoria led Florida with a match-high 24 kills to go with 10 digs.

With the win, FSU improved to 7-2 on the season. The Seminoles will have more than a week off before opening ACC play on Sept. 24 against Notre Dame.

Between the Lines

FSU’s volleyball victory was the lone scheduled FSU athletic event for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

News and Notes

FSU women’s hoops unveiled its ACC schedule on Wednesday. The Seminoles open conference play on Dec. 19 at home vs. Virginia Tech.

The ACC men’s basketball schedule will be unveiled on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET. It will air live on ACC Network.
