The Daily Nole — Sept. 2, 2021: FSU Football to Honor Bowden in 2021

Florida State athletics

It’s Thursday, Florida State fans.

With the weekend right around the corner, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Florida State football lost a legend last month as former head coach Bobby Bowden died after a bout with cancer at the age of 91.

Bowden won more than 300 games at FSU and coached the Seminoles to 12 ACC championships and two national titles. This season, FSU will honor the legend with decals on the field, jersey, helmets and coaching attire.

FSU will open the season on Sunday night on the field named in the legend’s honor as No. 9 Notre Dame comes to Tallahassee. Under second-year head coach Mike Norvell, FSU will look to start 1-0 for the first time since 2016.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU volleyball will play its home opener against Tulane on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. ET. FSU soccer plays host to rival Florida at 7 p.m. ET. Both contests will stream on ACC Network Extra.

All student tickets have been claimed for Sunday’s FSU football contest against Notre Dame.
