The Daily Nole — Aug. 27, 2021: FSU Soccer Handles South Alabama, 4-0

Lead Story

Florida State soccer remained perfect on Thursday with a second straight 4-0 victory.

This time, the victim was South Alabama. Jenna Nighswonger scored the lone goal of the first half. In the second, Beata Olsson, Yujie Zhao and Gianna Mitchell all scored with each goal coming about 11 minutes apart.

Gabby Carle and Ran Iwai each recorded assists for FSU in the dominating effort. As a team, the Seminoles finished with 27 shots and 15 on goal. The Jaguars didn’t manage a single shot.

With the win, FSU improves to 3-0 on the young season. The Seminoles will play their first road game of the season on Sunday when they visit Colorado.

FSU’s soccer victory over South Alabama was the lone scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU volleyball will be in Baton Rouge to open its 2021 season with the Tiger Classic. The Seminoles will take on Northern Arizona at 4 p.m. ET.

News and Notes

Notre Dame linebacker Marist Liufau will miss time during the 2021 football season with a leg and ankle injury. That likely means he will be out for the opener against FSU on Sept. 5.
