It is unknown who will start at quarterback for Florida State in the Labor Day weekend opener against Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish have named a starter.

Head coach Brian Kelly has named transfer Jack Coan as the starter for the season opener against the Seminoles on Sept. 5. A transfer from Wisconsin, Coan passed for 2,727 yards and 18 touchdowns with only five interceptions in 2019.

Coan will be tasked with replacing the school’s all-time winningest quarterback in Ian Book. Book was 2-0 in starts against the Seminoles.
