The Daily Nole — July 19, 2021: FSU’s Das, Knuth Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

It’s Monday, Florida State fans.

We’ve been gone for a few days, but now we’re back. Check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

A pair of Florida State female athletes were nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

FSU volleyball’s Taryn Knuth and FSU women’s tennis’ Nandini Das were each nominated for the honor. To be eligible, the athletes have to have participated in a sport and earned their undergraduate degrees by this summer.

Knuth already has a bachelor’s degree and has started on her graduate degree. She ranks as FSU’s all-time leader in blocks per set and in the top 10 in school history in multiple other categories.

Das, a native of India, capped her FSU career with ITA All-American honors. Das won at least 10 matches in each season at FSU and finished 14-8 in singles matches this past season. She has made The Dean’s List five times during her time in Tallahassee.

The award’s winner will be announced later this fall.

News and Notes

FSU men’s golfers Vincent Norrman and Brett Roberts were each named All-Americans by Ping. Norrman took home second-team honors. Roberts was named honorable mention.
