For the first time since winning the 2018 national championship, Florida State softball is headed to the Women’s College World Series. The No. 10 nationally-seeded Seminoles clinched the spot with a 4-3 walk-off thriller over LSU in nine innings to win the Baton Rouge Super Regional.

After being blanked for five innings, FSU pushed across one run in each of its final four at-bats. Georgia Clark got the scoring started for seventh-seeded LSU with a 2-run home run in the fourth. FSU got on the scoreboard with an RBI single from Elizabeth Mason in the sixth before tying the game on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, LSU went back in front on a solo home run by Taylor Pleasants, but Mason had an answer. With the Seminoles down to their last out, Mason’s solo homer in the eight forced a ninth. With two on and one out, Kiersten Landers ended the game for FSU with a walk-off single to score Dani Morgan.
