It’s Monday, Florida State fans.

As your new week chugs along, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Originally scheduled to be a 4-game series, weather relegated it to three, but Florida State softball completed the sweep of Duke on Sunday in dramatic fashion.

After shutting out the Blue Devils in each of the first two games of the series, FSU took Sunday’s finale with a 4-3 walk-off win. With Sydney Sherrill on third base and one out in the bottom of the seventh, catcher Anna Shelnutt laid down a bunt to the right side of the infield. Sherrill raced home to beat the tag and score the winning run.

Headlined by a 2-run single from Cassidy Davis, FSU raced to a 3-0 lead after an inning. Duke pushed two runs across in the third before drawing even in the fifth on an RBI single from Deja Davis. Davis had three of the six hits for the Blue Devils.

With the win, FSU improved to 27-6 and 15-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles will head to Syracuse to begin a 4-game set with the Orange on Friday.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s softball victory, FSU baseball fell at Louisville, 11-4.
