The Daily Nole — April 10, 2021: FSU’s Barnes Declares for NBA Draft

It comes as no surprise, but Florida State basketball guard Scottie Barnes is off to the NBA.

Barnes declared for the 2021 NBA Draft on Friday after one season in Tallahassee. Barnes was named the ACC Freshman of the Year and ACC Sixth Man of the Year for his effort last season.

Last season, Barnes averaged 10.3 points, four rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Barnes was a big reason that FSU reached the Sweet 16 where it fell to No. 1 seed Michigan.

Between the Lines

FSU men’s tennis beat Boston College 7-0 on Friday while the women topped Miami, 4-3. It took 10 innings, but FSU baseball fell to Louisville, 4-3. FSU softball topped Duke, 5-0. FSU beach volleyball was defeated by Florida International, 3-2.

On the Agenda

FSU softball will host Duke in a doubleheader on Saturday. Contests begin at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET with the second to air on ESPN2. FSU beach volleyball will continue the Unconquered Invitational with matches against Stetson and North Florida. FSU baseball will be at Louisville in a contest that begins at 1 p.m. ET and streams on ACC Network Extra. The FSU spring football game also takes place on Saturday. It begins at 5 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network.
