The Daily Nole — April 2, 2021: FSU Volleyball Tops Syracuse in Straight Sets

Lead Story

In its next-to-last match of the regular season, Florida State volleyball had no trouble with Syracuse at Tully Gym.

The Seminoles won 3-0 on Thursday by set scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-13. Morgan Chacon paced FSU with 13 kills while Jasmyn Martin added 11. Jessica Nunge led the Seminoles with a match-high nine digs.

FSU was supposed to close the regular season on Saturday against NC State. Instead, the Seminoles will face Syracuse again on Friday for Senior Day. The match begins at 5 p.m. ET.

Between the Lines

FSU volleyball’s match with Syracuse was the lone scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

On the Agenda

In addition to FSU volleyball’s match, FSU track and field will be in Gainesville for the Pepsi Florida Relays. FSU men’s tennis will host Florida Atlantic while the women host Virginia. FSU softball plays its ACC home opener against Notre Dame. That begins at 5 p.m. ET and streams on ACC Network Extra. FSU baseball opens a 3-game set against North Carolina. That one begins at 6 p.m. ET and also streams on ACC Network Extra.

The Florida State cross country teams were recognized by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic teams for the 2020 season.

FSU’s Board of Trustees has approved exploration for renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium.

FSU hoops guard Nathanael Jack has entered the transfer portal.
