As you begin a new week, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

The 2020-21 season for Florida State basketball came to an abrupt ending on Sunday. The fourth-seeded Seminoles were routed by No. 1 seed Michigan in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 by a score of 76-58.

Things were tight early on, but Michigan used a 10-0 first-half run to seize control and never really relinquished it. FSU trailed 32-21 at halftime and got as close as five in the second half before the Wolverines ran away with the contest.

FSU was plagued by turnovers in the first half and failed to get stops in the second. Michigan shot 49% from the field to 40% for FSU. The Wolverines also held a 6-rebound advantage and made 10 more free throws than the Seminoles.

Hunter Dickinson and Brandon Johns Jr. each scored 14 points to lead Michigan. Franz Wagner and Chaundee Brown added 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the win.

Anthony Polite led FSU with 12 points — all coming in the second half — and six rebounds. M.J. Walker finished with 10 points in the loss.

Michigan will move on to face UCLA in the Elite Eight. FSU finishes the season with a record of 18-7.

Between the Lines

In addition to the FSU basketball loss, FSU baseball dropped the rubber game to Wake Forest on Sunday, 12-10. FSU beach volleyball collected victories over TCU and South Carolina by 4-1 scores. FSU men’s tennis fell to Louisville, 4-1. Through one day at The Hayt, FSU men’s golf is in third place.
