Seminole Sunday Summary: FSU Hoops Tops UNC Greensboro to Open NCAA Tourney

For the fifth time in as many NCAA Tournament appearances, Florida State men’s basketball has advanced.

The No. 4 seed in the East Region, FSU never trailed on Saturday in the first round but got all it wanted in a 64-54 win over 13th-seeded UNC Greensboro. FSU led by as many as 16 points in the first half and as many as 12 in the second, but the Spartans kept fighting.

After UNC Greensboro evened the game at 29 early in the second half, the Seminoles responded with a 12-0 run. The Spartans got as close as one with less than six minutes to play, but an 8-2 run gave FSU the breathing room it needed to advance.

RaiQuan Gray led FSU with 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting. Balsa Koprivica added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds in the win. Anthony Polite chipped in with 12 points.

As a team, FSU shot 52% from the field, but 0-for-9 from deep. UNC Greensboro shot just 32% in the loss.

Isaiah Miller led the Spartans with 17 points. Keyshaun Langley added 16 points and went 5-for-9 from deep. As a team, UNC Greensboro went just 7 of 27 from distance.

With the win, FSU advances to face fifth-seeded Colorado on Monday. The Buffaloes beat 12th-seeded Georgetown in Indianapolis on Saturday, 96-73.
