Death, taxes, Florida State women’s basketball knocking off a highly-ranked Louisville team.

History repeated itself on Sunday as FSU rallied to defeat the third-ranked Cardinals at the Donald L. Tucker Center, 68-59. The Seminoles trailed by as many as seven in the third quarter, but went ahead for good on a 9-0 run in the final quarter. Morgan Jones hit the jumper that gave FSU its final lead change with six minutes to go.

The run gave the Seminoles a 54-47 lead and from there, the contest never got closer than five. FSU won despite shooting just 32% from the field. Louisville shot just 35% and 3-for-20 from deep.

Jones paced FSU with game-highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Kourtney Weber finished strong with 14 points for the Seminoles. Standout Dana Evans led Louisville with 13 points, but on just 5-for-21 shooting. Olivia Cochran added 12 points and nine rebounds in the loss.

The win for FSU is its third over a top-5 Louisville team in two seasons. FSU has beaten a top-10 Louisville team six times since the 2014-15 season. With the win, FSU improves to 9-6 and 8-6 in ACC play. The Seminoles visit Notre Dame on Thursday night.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s basketball victory, FSU baseball swept a doubleheader against North Florida on Sunday, winning 14-7 and 8-4. FSU women’s tennis topped Georgia Tech, 5-2. FSU men’s tennis fell to Georgia Tech, 4-3. Florida State softball fell to Virginia Tech, 6-0. FSU men’s golf won the Seminole Intercollegiate.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.
