The Daily Nole — Feb. 5, 2021: FSU Women’s Tennis Takes Down Florida, 4-1

Lead Story

Florida State remained perfect against rival Florida in head-to-head competition this athletic year. On Wednesday, FSU women’s tennis took down the Gators in Tallahassee, 4-1.

The No. 8 Seminoles took the doubles point and wasted little time putting 21st-ranked Florida away. Victoria Allen, Andrea Garcia and Nandini Das all won in straight sets for FSU to wrap up the victory.

Das clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Florida’s Ida Jarlskog. Sara Dahlstrom recorded the lone victory for Florida with a straight-set win over FSU’s Emmanuelle Salas.

The victory for FSU is its fourth straight over Florida. The Seminoles improved to 3-0 on the year. FSU men’s and women’s basketball teams also scored wins over the Gators this academic year.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s tennis victory, FSU women’s basketball won at North Carolina on Thursday night, 61-51.

On the Agenda

FSU cross country resumes its season on Friday with the FSU Winter XC Classic.

News and Notes

FSU football has added former Maryland long snapper James Rosenberry Jr.

FSU men’s tennis’ home matches with Furman and either Georgia Southern or Florida Atlantic for Saturday have been postponed.
