The Daily Nole — Jan. 20, 2021: FSU Men’s Golf Rallies to Win Camp Creek Seminole Invitational

Lead Story

In its first tournament of the year, Florida State men’s golf emerged victorious. The Seminoles took home the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational by winning on the second playoff hole in the final round on Tuesday.

FSU was in fourth place after the first day and second after day two, but rallied to tie Wake Forest on Tuesday. FSU ultimately emerged on the second playoff hole. Both the Seminoles and Demon Deacons finished at -22 in the tournament consisting only of 10 ACC schools.

Clemson, which led after the first day, finished third at -19. Jacob Bridgeman did take the individual title for the Tigers, finishing -15.

FSU had five of the top 14 finishers, led by third-place Connor Futrell, who shot -7 for the tournament. John Pak and Vincent Norman finished tied for seventh at -4 each. Brett Roberts and Greyson Porter each shot -2 for the Seminoles to finish tied for ninth.

FSU will be in Ponte Verde next week to participate in the Timuquana Collegiate. The tournament takes place on Monday and Tuesday.

Between the Lines

The Camp Creek was the lone FSU athletic event scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will visit Auburn on Wednesday.

News and Notes

FSU defensive back Carlos Becker is no longer with the program.

FSU linebacker Emmett Rice will return for the 2021 season.

Florida State women’s basketball has made changes to its schedule and will now host Clemson on Thursday and play at Georgia Tech on Sunday. FSU will host Georgia Tech on Feb. 18.

Newcomers for FSU football have received their jersey numbers.

FSU baseball will play Florida three times in 2021. The teams will meet in Tallahassee on March 16, Jacksonville on March 30 and Gainesville on April 13.
