Lead Story

Florida State has still yet to play basketball in 2021, but it did receive a bit of positive news this week.

Freshman guard Scottie Barnes was among 25 players named to the John R. Wooden Award’s midseason watch list. The award is annually given to the nation’s most outstanding players in men’s and women’s basketball.

For the season, Barnes is averaging more than 11 points, nearly four rebounds and more than four assists per game. No FSU player has ever won the Wooden Award.

Between the Lines

The FSU men’s swimming and diving team topped LSU, 170-5-91.5, on Friday. FSU’s women tied the Tigers, 131-131.

On the Agenda

FSU basketball was scheduled to face Pittsburgh on Saturday, but that contest has been postponed by positive COVID-19 tests within the program. There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Saturday.

News and Notes

Massachusetts will receive $1.5 million to play FSU next season. The contest takes place on Oct. 23.
