The Daily Nole — Jan. 1-2, 2021: FSU Hoops’ Contest with Duke Postponed

Florida State athletics

Happy New Year, Florida State fans.

We took New Year’s Day off, but we’re back with our daily rundown. Catch up on the past two days of action.

Lead Story

The Saturday night men’s basketball match-up of top-20 teams will have to wait another day.

According to a release, the contest between No. 20 Duke and 18th-ranked Florida State was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing within the FSU program. The meeting at the Donald L. Tucker Center was set to tip off in prime time.

The positive test likely puts other FSU contests in jeopardy. FSU is set to visit Syracuse on Wednesday afternoon.

For the season, the Seminoles are 5-2 and 1-1 in ACC play. Duke is 3-2 and 1-0 in conference. Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was set to miss the contest with FSU due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Between the Lines

On Thursday, FSU women’s hoops defeated Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, 73-63.

On the Agenda

With the postponement of FSU’s contest with Duke, there are no athletic contests scheduled for Saturday.

News and Notes

FSU football has landed Kansas wide receiver transfer Andrew Parchment.
