Lead Story

It’s been a long time since Florida State has had a player come in with as much hype as Scottie Barnes.

The No. 7 overall recruit in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Barnes was named to the Naismith Award watch list this week. The award is annually given to the best player in college basketball.

Listed at 6-foot-8, Barnes was the prize recruit for a class that ranked 10th in the ACC. Barnes is expected to replace some of the production from recent NBA lottery picks Patrick Williams and Devin Vassell as well as senior guard Trent Forrest. FSU opens the season next Friday at home against Gardner-Webb.
