The Daily Nole — Nov. 6, 2020: FSU Baseball Plays Annual Garnet and Gold Game

It’s Friday, Florida State fans.

Before the weekend gets here, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Although the team held just one scrimmage this year instead of the originally scheduled two, Florida State baseball held its annual Garnet and Gold game on Thursday.

The Gold team won the game, 8-5. Throughout the day however, pitching shined.

The Garnet team took a 5-4 lead into the ninth inning on Alex Haire’s RBI single. After the Garnet tied the game with a walk, the FSU coaching staff awarded the Gold team three runs to move the game to the bottom half of the inning. Reese Albert and Casey Asman each homered in the contest.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball’s scrimmage was the only scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will host Georgia Tech in its season opener on Friday.

News and Notes

Former FSU cornerback Stanford Samuels III made his NFL debut for the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The Packers beat the San Francisco 49ers, 34-17.

FSU football is currently a 2-point favorite over Pittsburgh.
