Lead Story

Fresh off the second ACC championship in program history, Florida State basketball has had two players named to preseason watch lists in recent days.

Guard Scottie Barnes was recently named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list. The Cousy Award annually goes to the nation’s best point guard. Listed at 6-foot-8, Barnes is just a freshman, but expected to make a major impact for FSU during the 2020-21 season. Barnes was the No. 7 overall player for the 2020 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

Fellow guard M.J. Walker was recently named to the Jerry West Award watch list, which annually goes to the nation’s best shooting guard. Last season, Walker averaged 10.6 points per game while shooting better than 36% from deep and better than 80% from the foul line.

No FSU player has ever won either of the two awards.
