All that remains for Florida State football in 2019 is a Sun Bowl date with Arizona State.

It wasn’t a great season overall for the Seminoles, but they are bowl bound for a 37th time in 38 years. This week, we asked our social media followers who the team’s MVP was for 2019.

Of the 234 accounts to respond, 77 percent voted for running back Cam Akers as the team’s MVP. Junior safety Hamsah Nasirildeen received 12 percent of the vote. Wide receiver Tamorrion Terry and defensive tackle Marvin Wilson received 6 and 4 percent, respectively.

Our Take
The vote this week was decided by a wide margin and those who opined got it correct.

Junior running back Cam Akers won’t play in the Sun Bowl, but he already made his mark during his time at FSU. Despite running behind a poor offensive line this season, Akers still enjoyed one of the better seasons ever for a back at Florida State.

Akers rushed for 1,144 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also caught four touchdown passes to finish with 18 total for the season. The 1,144 rushing yards ranks sixth all-time for a single season at FSU and the 18 total touchdowns ranks fourth.

In total, Akers scored 39 percent of Florida State’s touchdowns. 6-6 isn’t where the Seminoles hoped they would be in 2019, but they don’t want to think where they might be without Akers.
