Your Thoughts Thursday: FSU Will Beat Syracuse in a Close One

Florida State is desperate for a win and the team it hosts on Saturday will be the last one in the ACC without a conference win.

The Seminoles will aim for their 11th win in 12 tries over Syracuse when the teams meet at Doak Campbell Stadium. FSU had won 10 straight before a 30-7 loss last season to the Orange in the Carrier Dome.

This week, we asked our social media followers who would win the contest between 3-4 teams. There were only 85 responses this week, but more than 70 percent picked the Seminoles to emerge victorious.

The top response at 40 percent was FSU winning by a score. 31 percent picked the Seminoles to win by multiple scores. 22 percent have the Orange winning a close one and 7 percent picked Syracuse to win by more than one score.

Our Take
This is a rare occurrence, but we’re actually a bit more optimistic than those chiming in.

Florida State will get this contest at home and will be facing a Syracuse team that has real problems up front. As bad as the FSU offensive line, Syracuse has allowed the most sacks in the country at 35.

The FSU defense has been playing much better since the start of ACC play and in conference play, Syracuse is averaging just 12 points per game. The Orange have never won in Tallahassee.

I’m taking the Seminoles, 34-20.
