Your Thoughts Thursday: FSU Will Beat Boise State by Multiple Scores

Hurricane Dorian has made Florida State fans sweat it out, but the Seminoles will kick off the 2019 season on Saturday, but not in Jacksonville — in Tallahassee instead.

This week, we asked our social media followers who would win the contest. FSU is coming off a 5-7 season while Boise State won 10 games, but is replacing its two most productive offensive players.

There were 231 total votes this week and the majority think that FSU will win with some ease.

74 percent of those to respond said FSU will win by at least eight points while 20 percent expect a closer victory for the Seminoles. 3 percent predicted Boise State to win by seven or less and 3 percent said the Broncos would win by eight or more.

Our Take
We’re again going with the audience on this one.

Big things are expected of an FSU offense that was dismal a season ago, but it made upgrades to the coaching staff and James Blackman is taking over at quarterback. As witnessed in last week’s contest between FSU’s two biggest rivals, openers can be a bit on the sloppy side.

While FSU won’t wow spectators against the Broncos, Boise State also has some big names to replace, including quarterback Brett Rypien and running back Alexander Mattison. Boise State is also starting a true freshman at quarterback in Hank Bachmeier.

FSU will avoid losing three straight openers for the first time since the 1970s, but Saturday’s opener won’t be a thing of beauty. When it was set for Jacksonville, I had Florida State winning 27-19. I’ll now go 30-17 in favor of the Seminoles.
