With watch lists being unveiled and ACC Kickoff taking place this week, it’s beginning to feel a lot like football season.

For our third straight The Daily Nole Poll. we asked a Florida State football-related question. This week, we asked our social media followers which FSU true freshman would have the biggest impact in 2019.

In what may be the closest poll yet, we had 231 responses. When all was said and done, cornerback Akeem Dent got the nod.

Dent wound up with 32 percent of the vote, edging out guard Dontae Lucas and linebacker Jaleel McRae, who are each expected to help suspect position groups. Lucas and McRae each got 30 percent. Versatile defensive back Travis Jay received just 8 percent of the vote.

Our Take
As usual, I have to go with the voters.

Akeem Dent and Jaleel McRae should both see the field quite a bit in 2019 after enrolling early. McRae looked very good during the spring, but Dent looked like a seasoned veteran.

Last season, defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett did not shy away from using a lot of defensive backs. At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Dent is big, physical and versatile enough to be used in multiple ways.
