Death, taxes, Florida State softball winning the ACC Tournament.

The second-seeded Seminoles clinched a sixth straight conference crown on Saturday with an 8-0 6-inning victory over fourth-seeded North Carolina in the ACC Championship at JoAnne Graf Field. Over the three games, FSU did not allow a run.

After getting a run in the first inning and two in the second, the Seminoles opened things up with a 3-run fourth inning. Cali Harrod highlighted the frame with a home run. Harrod finished the day 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Meghan King started the first two games in the circle to open the ACC Tournament, but came in to finish the contest on Saturday for starter Makinzy Herzog. King worked the final four innings.

Catcher Anna Shelnutt, last season’s ACC Tournament hero, also had a day to remember. Shelnutt homered in the fifth and gunned down a pair of base runners trying to steal. Sydney Sherrill ended it with an RBI double in the sixth.

The victory for FSU likely wraps up a top-8 seed, which means that all games will be played in Tallahassee until the Women’s College World Series. FSU is now 51-8 for the season.
