Your Thoughts Thursday: FSU Softball Most Likely to Defend ACC Crown

Two Florida State programs enter this weekend with the title of defending ACC champions. Both hope to leave with the title reigning ACC champions.

In this week’s The Daily Nole Poll, we asked our readers whether FSU softball or men’s outdoor track and field were more likely to defend their conference title this weekend. The results were overwhelming.

We had just 48 Twitter responses, but 40 of them went with FSU softball. The Seminoles will be the No. 2 seed in this year’s ACC Tournament and have won each of the last five ACC titles. FSU men’s track and field won the ACC outdoor championship and shared the indoor title earlier this athletic year.

Our Take
If the ACC Softball Tournament were anywhere other than Tallahassee, I would probably go against the grain, but FSU is just too good at JoAnne Graf Field.

Florida State lost five ACC games this season, but only one of those was at home. Overall, FSU is 25-2 on its home field this season.

On the line for Florida State will be a top-8 national seed, which would mean the Seminoles would get every game in Tallahassee up until the Women’s College World Series. It should also be noted that top-seeded Virginia Tech fell to eighth-seeded NC State to open the tournament.
