The Daily Nole — April 14, 2019: FSU Women’s Tennis Blanks Louisville on Senior Day

Lead Story

In what will be the final home match of the regular season, Florida State women’s tennis sent out its three seniors in style with an easy 7-0 victory over Louisville on Saturday.

FSU seniors Ana Oparenovic and Ariana Rahmanparast each won in straight sets to capture victories on Senior Day. Fellow senior Julia Mikulski was the only Seminole to lose a set on Saturday, but rallied past Louisville’s Chloe Hamlin in a super-breaker. Junior Carla Touly and sophomore Petra Hule also notched singles victories for FSU.

With the win, FSU wraps up the regular season with a 19-5 record and an 11-3 mark in ACC play. The ACC Tournament gets underway on Wednesday.

Between the Lines

In addition to women’s tennis, FSU baseball defeated Clemson 16-2 on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium. FSU softball’s contest with North Carolina was rained out.

On the Agenda

FSU softball is set to play at North Carolina on ACC Network Extra while FSU baseball goes for the home sweep of Clemson on Sunday on ESPN News. FSU men’s tennis wraps up the regular season at Duke. All contests begin at 1 p.m. EST.

News and Notes

FSU softball will try to make up Saturday’s contest either Sunday or Monday.

Shane Drohan will start for FSU baseball against Clemson.

FSU baseball defeated Clemson on Sunday evening to complete the 3-game sweep, 6-4.

FSU women’s tennis will be the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament while the men will be the seventh seed and face Duke on Thursday.
