In Florida State’s last 35 innings in ACC play, the Seminoles have now scored a grand total of one run and have been shut out three straight times. Miami clinched the series on Saturday night with a 4-0 shutout of the Seminoles in Coral Gables.

For the second straight night, the fifth inning turned out to be the big one for the Hurricanes (20-11). Miami pushed across three runs in the frame. Anthony Villar and Adrian Del Castillo each had RBI hits in the inning while Freddy Zamora added an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Miami drew first blood on a solo home run by Gabe Rivera in the third inning. FSU’s best scoring opportunity came in the third inning, but the Seminoles (18-12) left the bases loaded and were unable to push anything across.

For the fourth straight ACC game, FSU was held to just four hits. Miami finished with six hits, but no player for either team had a multi-hit game.

C.J. Van Eyk allowed the four runs in 4.2 innings to take the loss for FSU. Chris McMahon allowed just three hits and three walks in seven shutout innings while striking out nine to pick up the win for Miami.

The Hurricanes will go for the sweep on Sunday.
