Florida State’s struggles continued on Tuesday night as the Seminoles let a small lead evaporate in a 3-2 loss to Jacksonville at Dick Howser Stadium in 11 innings.

The Dolphins (19-10) broke a 2-2 in the top of the 11th inning on an RBI single by Cory Garrastazu with no one out. Jacksonville would put two runners in scoring position later in the inning, but could not add any more insurance.

Both runs for FSU (18-10) came in the fifth inning on a 2-run home run by Mike Salvatore. It was the second straight midweek game that a 2-run Salvatore blast accounted for all the FSU scoring.

Jacksonville got on the board in the sixth with an RBI single from Jacob Southern. Southern would add an RBI double in the eighth inning to tie the game and ultimately force extra innings.

Hits continued to be few and far between for FSU as the Seminoles managed just five to 10 for the Dolphins. Florida State did leave nine runners on base to 11 for Jacksonville.

Southern and Angel Camacho each had three hits for Jacksonville in the win. They combined for all three Dolphin runs. Robby Martin had two of the five FSU hits.

Conor Grady lost his second straight decision for Florida State, allowing just a run in three innings of work. J.C. Flowers worked three scoreless innings in his first career start, allowing just a hit and a walk. Nick Love worked two scoreless innings to earn the win for Jacksonville. Zach Bryant worked a perfect ninth to earn the save.

With the loss, FSU has now dropped 10 of 16. The Seminoles will look to get back over .500 in ACC play on Friday as they head south to face rival Miami.
