The Daily Nole — March 30, 2019: FSU Softball Blasts Virginia, 11-0

It’s the weekend, Florida State fans. As you enjoy some rest and relaxation, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

An extended rest seemed to be good for Florida State softball. In their first game since Sunday, FSU blasted Virginia on Friday in just five innings, 11-0.

Carsyn Gordon and Dani Morgan each homered for the Seminoles in the victory. Morgan drove in five runs in the victory while Gordon and Sydney Sherrill each had two hits, two runs and three RBIs.

After three scoreless innings in the circle from Meghan King, Makinzy Herzog came in and worked two perfect innings. FSU and Virginia will go at it again on Saturday in Charlottesville at 1 p.m. EST. The contest streams on ACC Network Extra.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU softball, FSU men’s swimming and diving continued the NCAA Championships on Friday. FSU track and field took part in three different events. FSU beach volleyball collected wins over Tulane and Grand Canyon. FSU women’s tennis topped Wake Forest 5-2 while the men fell to NC State, 4-1. FSU baseball fell to Boston College, 10-7.

On the Agenda

Aside from FSU softball, FSU beach volleyball will be in South Florida to take on both UCLA and Florida International on Saturday. FSU men’s swimming and diving will wrap up the NCAA Championships. FSU track and field continues the Florida Relays and the Raleigh Relays. FSU baseball hosts Boston College at 6 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

C.J. Van Eyk will start for FSU against Boston College on Saturday.

FSU baseball defeated Boston College 4-3 on Saturday night on a walk-off single by Mike Salvatore.

FSU men’s swimming and diving finished 14th at the NCAA Championships in Austin.
