The Daily Nole — March 17, 2019: FSU’s Kabengele, Mann Make All-ACC Tournament Team

Lead Story

Florida State basketball couldn’t notch a second-ever ACC Championship on Saturday night as it fell to Duke in for the conference crown in Charlotte, 73-63. A couple of Seminoles however, were honored as members of the ACC Tournament’s all-tournament team.

Redshirt sophomore forward Mfiondu Kabengele was named a first-team selection. In three games against Virginia Tech, Virginia and Duke, Kabengele averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks.

Senior slasher Terance Mann was named a second-team selection. Over the three games, Mann averaged eight points and 6.7 rebounds. Mann hit the overtime game-winner in FSU’s 65-63 victory over Virginia Tech in the quarterfinal on Friday.

Duke’s Zion Williamson was named the tournament MVP. Williamson scored 21 points in Saturday’s win over the Seminoles.

Between the Lines

In addition to the ACC Championship, FSU softball fell to Notre Dame on Saturday, 7-4. FSU track and field opened the outdoor season with the FAMU Relays. FSU baseball blew a late lead on Saturday in a 9-8 loss to NC State.

On the Agenda

FSU softball wraps up a 3-game set with Notre Dame at 12 p.m. EST on Sunday while FSU baseball visits NC State at 1 p.m. EST. Both contests will air on ACC Network Extra. Both the FSU men’s and women’s tennis teams will face Notre Dame. FSU men’s golf begins the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City.

News and Notes

FSU will open the NCAA Tournament on Thursday as the No. 4 seed in the West Region against Vermont.

FSU baseball defeated NC State on Sunday in Raleigh, 7-5.
