The Daily Nole — March 14, 2019: FSU to Face Virginia Tech in ACC Tournament

Lead Story

Florida State basketball will open the ACC Tournament on Thursday against Virginia Tech.

The fifth-seeded Hokies advanced to face No. 4 seed FSU with a 71-56 victory over 12th-seeded Miami on Thursday. Kerry Blackshear finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Virginia Tech.

The Seminoles topped the Hokies more than a week ago in overtime, 73-64. FSU rallied from 14 points down to clinch the double-bye.

Thursday’s contest in Charlotte begins about 2:30 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN. The winner will face the winner of the contest between NC State and Virginia.

Between the Lines

FSU swimming and diving finished Zone B competition on Wednesday. FSU men’s team defeated Abilene Christian, 6-1.

On the Agenda

FSU hoops plays the only scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

News and Notes

Five FSU men’s swimmers and divers reached the NCAA Championships.

FSU beach volleyball junior Sara Putt and junior Payton Caffrey earned the CCSA Co-Pair of the Week honors.
