A pair of Florida State point guards were recognized for their high grade-point averages on Friday.

FSU junior Trent Forrest and senior David Nichols were each named to the All-ACC Academic team. A 3.0 GPA for the previous semester and a cumulative 3.0 GPA for their academic careers are the minimum requirements to make the conference’s academic team.

Forrest, a junior, was named an All-Academic selection by the conference for the third time. Forrest is a sports management major, who holds a 3.52 GPA. On the court this season, Forrest is averaging nine points per game, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals.

Nichols, a senior and graduate transfer from Albany, completed his undergraduate degree at Albany with a major in communications and a minor in business. He is set to earn his master’s degree in sports administration from FSU in May. For the season, Nichols is averaging 6.6 points and 1.7 assists. He ranks third on the team in made 3-pointers with 32.

Among ACC teams, only Louisville, NC State and Virginia Tech had more All-Academic selections than FSU. Forrest, Nichols and the rest of the Seminoles will look to make some noise on the court Saturday as they wrap up the regular season at Wake Forest.
